The Center for Crisis Early Warning (CCEW) at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich and the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) kindly ask to submit contributions to the 

 

                                                           Symposium on Crisis Early Warning 

                                                                                             on the topic

                                         “The Potential of Data, AI, and Interdisciplinary Analysis

                                                  in Situational Awareness and Decision Making”

 

The Symposium on Crisis Early Warning will take place in Berlin on September 17 and 18, 2025.

The event brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to engage in various panels and discussions, exchange ideas, and learn about the most recent trends in crisis early warning.

On the common misconceptions about Islamist terrorism Eva Herschinger in online magazine Krautreporter article on the topic

After the attacks in Munich, Aschaffenburg, Magdeburg, Mannheim and Solingen, the impression has arisen that terrorist violence is on the rise, and that Islamist-motivated perpetrators are particularly responsible for this. The long article in the online magazine Krautreporter examines the question on the basis of six misconceptions about Islamist terrorism.

Enhancing Decision-Making with Red Teaming

How can cognitive biases and groupthink in decision-making be systematically mitigated? Red Teaming provides a proven methodological approach to challenge assumptions, optimize strategic planning, and enhance decision resilience. At the Wargaming and Information Systems Research Program at the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (CISS), we had the opportunity to discuss the method and its core principles with two of its original developers. Our exchange focused on how Red Teaming is applied in both research and practice.
