Last-Mile Logistics
The last mile of delivery remains the most inefficient – and therefore most expensive – segment of modern logistics processes despite all scientific advances. Our research in the field of Last-Mile Logistics focuses on delivery concepts like Attended Home Delivery with scheduled time-window doorstep delivery, Same-Day Delivery with even stricter requirements due to extremely short planning and execution deadlines, and Out-of-Home Delivery concepts such as parcel lockers. Central to our control mechanisms are dynamic pricing and decisions about offering time windows, taking into account downstream logistics processes, such as route planning.
