My chair is dedicated to data- and method-based decision support in operations and management. Our research is grounded in an integrative understanding of Business Analytics and Management Science: we link data-driven forecasting with appropriate optimization methods. In doing so, we employ artificial intelligence techniques – such as reinforcement learning – as well as classical mathematical optimization methods from Operations Research. A particular area of expertise is the development and application of revenue management approaches for the tactical and operational control of service systems. In this context, we address challenges from passenger transportation, logistics, and emerging mobility services. In teaching, we convey solid methodological skills in the study programs “Business and Organizational Sciences (B.Sc./M.Sc.)” and “Digital Administration (B.Sc.).” Additionally, we offer courses with a specific applied focus, for example on revenue management or logistics analytics. We collaborate regularly with renowned companies and support them within the scope of industry projects by analyzing, improving, and further developing their operational processes. This close integration of theory and practice promotes the transfer of scientific insights into application – and at the same time allows us to identify research-relevant questions from practice at an early stage.
