The Chair of Operations Research at the Bundeswehr University Munich has, in recent years, developed the COMTESSA Competence Center (Core Competence Center for Operations Research, Management-Tenacity-Excellence, Safety & Security ALLIANCE). The research focuses on the analysis and simulation of complex systems as well as the development of optimization methods for IT-based decision support.
The research group of Prof. Dr. Stefan Pickl is a member of the international research centers MUNICH AEROSPACE, CENETIX-NPS, CITA and CODE - Cyber Defence and Smart Data, dtec.bw and SENS.
Prof. Pickl led the two BMBF projects “RIKOV” (Risks and Costs of Terrorist Threats to Rail-Based Public Transport) and “REHSTRAIN” (REsilience of the Franco-German High Speed TRAIn Network) within the framework of the BMBF security program 2012-2018, which received great international attention.
Prof. Pickl is the international officer of UniBw M for the Faculty of Computer Science.
