International networking in cybersecurity
6 March 2026
On Monday, Captain Ivo Schneider, Defense Attaché at the German Embassy in Singapore, visited the Research Institute CODE. During his visit to Munich, he learned about CODE's research and activities in the field of cybersecurity. The attaché also visited CODE's Cyber Range, where regularly cybersecurity training sessions are held for specialists from the Bundeswehr and other federal and state authorities. Opportunities were identified for German and Singaporean institutions to collaborate on cybersecurity issues.
The armed forces of Germany and Singapore are already working together in the field of cyber defense. In the multinational cyber defense exercise Locked Shields last spring, around 200 specialists from both nations worked together successfully for the second time in a row in a joint Blue Team, complementing each other's skills to ultimately achieve first place. Locked Shields has been organized since 2010 by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (NATO CCDCOE), based in Tallinn, Estonia. In 2025, a total of around 4,000 people from 41 nations took part. This makes it the largest and most complex exercise of its kind in the world.
