Rebecca Butz
Research Associate in the KOKO Project
Rebecca Butz joined the Chair of International Politics and Conflict Studies in February 2025 as a research associate in the KOKO Project – Conflict and Communication.
Rebecca Butz studied ethnology, economics (B.A.) and sociology (M.A.) at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Panteion University in Athens, and the University of Basel. During her stay abroad at Panteion University, Rebecca Butz expanded her field of study to include social psychology. She also successfully completed a bachelor's degree in social work at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Munich.
As part of her bachelor's thesis in ethnology, Rebecca Butz completed a four-week field stay. Her research focused on the analysis of power structures in a medium-sized company. In addition to several positions as a student and research assistant, including at the Institute for Social Science Research, Ms. Butz also conducted qualitative field research for her master's thesis. Her particular interest here was care in men's prisons.
Research interests
As part of the KOKO – Conflict and Communication research project, Rebecca Butz focuses on European border regions, dynamics of inclusion and exclusion, social fault lines, and questions of (political) subjectivation.
