New paper regarding isogeometric analysis locking mitigation strategies

6 June 2025

Our new article "An isogeometric assumed natural strain method to alleviate locking in solid beams" was recently published open-access in the journal Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering.

This work proposes a novel Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) extension of the Assumed Natural Strain (ANS) method to alleviate locking phenomena in solid beams. How? The ANS method substitutes specific strains that cause locking in solid beams with a so-called assumed strain field and its adoption within IGA allows to naturally alleviate targeted types of locking, showcasing a novel, simple and effective computational framework.
