Workshop on PDE Constrained Optimization in Essen

From July 28 to 30, 2025, the University of Duisburg-Essen hosted the workshop PDE Constrained Optimization. The event provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange at the highest level – all set in a unique venue (see photo).

A total of 15 talks by internationally recognized experts offered diverse insights into the field. Among them, Thomas Apel presented his joint work with Katharina Lorenz and Johannes Pfefferer on The Stokes problem with non-homogeneous boundary conditions.

A special highlight of the workshop was the pre-dinner talk by Daniel Wachsmuth, held in honor of Prof. Arnd Rösch’s 60th birthday – a personal and memorable moment within the academic program.
