Sebastian Brandstäter Presents Biomechanics Research at ESB 2025

IMCS researcher Sebastian Brandstäter contributed to the 30th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB 2025 Congress), held at ETH Zürich, Switzerland, from July 6–9, 2025.

He presented his research on coupled electromechanical simulations of the human stomach, a collaborative effort with Maire Henke (TUHH, Germany), Alessio Gizzi (Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Italy), and Christian J. Cyron (TUHH & Hereon, Germany).

The work introduces a novel computational framework based on a shell formulation designed to simulate the large deformations that occur during gastric contraction waves, both in physiological and pathological conditions.
