Students acquire knowledge of the structure, properties and function of electronic components and their use in basic electrical circuits. They acquire the ability to analyse and dimension basic electrical circuits.

Module type: Compulsory

Lecturer: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Latzel

Field of study: Applied Computer Technology (ACT), Applied Communication (CT), Cyber Security (CYB)

Credit points: 5

Module components:

Electronic components (lecture; 4 TWS)
Electronic components (exercise; 1 TWS)

Contents:

Students receive a basic introduction to the field of electronic components:

Passive components: properties, function, designs and basic circuits.
Fundamentals of semiconductors: Basic physical processes in semiconductors.
Active semiconductor components, ICs: structure, properties, function and basic circuits.

The basic knowledge acquired in the Electrical Engineering 1+2 modules is expanded. Electrical engineering components are introduced and students are familiarised with practical basic circuits using examples.
