Module type: Compulsory elective

Academic: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Deml

Field of study: Computer Aided Engineering (CAE)

Creditpoints: 3

Qualification goal:
Students acquire a basic understanding of the function of a circuit simulator, areas of application of the various analysis methods and modeling of components.

Module components:

  • Computer aided layout processes (Lecture, 4 TWS)

Contents:

  • Introduction to the areas of application of the various types of analysis (DC, AC, transient and transient analysis, DC sweep, parametric sweep, Monte Carlo)
  • Overview of the different analysis methods: Kirchhoff, mesh current analysis, node potential analysis
  • Function of a circuit simulator (setting up the system matrix, Gauss algorithm, zero search, integration method)
  • Modeling of components for circuit simulation
