ACNS 2025 & PrivCrypt 2025

27 June 2025

The 23rd International Conference on Applied Cryptography and Network Security (ACNS 2025)  was held in Munich, Germany, at the Munich Urban Co-Lab on 23–26 June 2025. ACNS is an annual conference focusing on current developments that advance the areas of applied cryptography, cybersecurity (including network and computer security), and privacy. In this year’s edition, Prof. Slamanig served as the Poster Chair of the conference.

As part of the conference, Prof. Slamanig, together with Dr. Hanzlik (CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security), organized the International Workshop on Foundations and Applications of Privacy-Enhancing Cryptography. In recent years, privacy-preserving cryptography has gained significant momentum, driven by the growing demand for practical, efficient, and future-proof solutions. Despite its rising importance and visibility in both academia and industry, there is currently no dedicated venue for this subfield—prompting the proposal of a focused workshop to bring together researchers and practitioners. The aim of the workshop is to close this gap between theory and practice and to bring together interested people from academia and industry to discuss recent developments and open problems.

Besides contributed and peer-reviewed talks, the workshop also featured two keynotes: Prof. Miroslaw Kutylowski (NASK – National Research Institute) presented “Malicious Cryptography and Privacy Illusion”, and Prof. Tjerand Silde (Norwegian University of Science and Technology – NTNU) presented “Privacy-Enhancing Cryptography from Lattices.”
