Daniel Racek M.Sc.
Daniel Racek is Head of Department for Data Science in Crisis and Conflict Research at the Center for Crisis Early Warning. He leads the research and development of innovative methodologies for global crisis early warning, combining interdisciplinary research with practical applications.
Professional background
Prior to joining the Center for Crisis Early Warning, Daniel Racek was a researcher at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where he led several successful research projects. His work focused on developing computational methods to analyze and forecast armed conflicts, integrating statistical and machine learning techniques with diverse data sources such as social media and satellite imagery. He has also contributed to multiple interdisciplinary projects in the social and political sciences, focusing on the methodological adaptation and implementation of statistical and machine learning models to domain-specific use cases.
Educational Background
Daniel Racek holds a PhD in Statistics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Data Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the same institution, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Derby.
